Prof. Dr. M. Mofazzal Hossain has been serving as Dean, School of Science and Engineering and Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB). He received the B.Sc. Eng. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka, and Masters and Ph.D. from Kanazawa University, Japan in 1993, 2000 and 2003 respectively.
Prof. Hossain has more than 29 years of Teaching, Research and Administrative experiences at different universities in home and abroad. Prof. Hossain started his career as a Lecturer in Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (former Bangladesh Institute of Technology, Chittagong) since 27 April 1994 and served there as an Assistant Professor till April 2008. He served there as Head of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department, Provost of Ladies Hall. From May 2008 to December 2018, he worked at East West University, Dhaka in the capacity of Chairperson of ECE Department, and Dean, Faculty of Sciences and Engineering, Member of Syndicate, Academic Council and Finance Committee. Prof Hossain worked at Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan as a visiting postdoctoral research fellow from November 2005 to November 2007. He also worked at Kanazawa University as a JASSO fellow for three months in 2014.
Prof. Hossain supervised more than 140 final year thesis/project students and 16 graduate students and one Ph.D. student. He has been serving as external member of undergraduate and graduate thesis committee, and member of moderation committee in different universities.
Prof Hossain’s research interest includes Solar Photovoltaics; Electric Vehicles, Power Grid and Environment; and IoT-based energy saving system. Currently Prof Hossain has also been working with engineering education and accreditation policies. He has published more than 88 articles in peer reviewed International Journals and Conferences including IEEE Transaction on Plasma Science, Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, Thin Solid Films, Chemical Engineering Journal, Physics of Plasmas, Plasma Sources Science and Technology, Transaction of Materials Research Society of Japan, Computer Networks, Internet of Things etc. He attended different international conferences/seminars in home and abroad, and visited Australia, Brunei Darussalam, China, India, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, UAE, UK and USA. He has been serving in different international conferences in various capacities. He served as the member of Technical Program Committee, Track-Chair, Session Chairs, International Program Committee Members, Editorial Board Members, and Reviewer in more than 30 international journals and conferences. Prof. Hossain has also been serving as an external member of faculty selection committee in different universities in Bangladesh.
Prof. Hossain has been serving IEEE since 2001. He is senior member of IEEE, and a fellow of JSPS and JASSO. He is actively engaged with the BAETE, IEB and has been working as Member of Coordination Committee, Program Evaluation Team Chair/Member. He has been delivering lectures on Outcome Based Education (OBE), OBE Curriculum Development and Accreditation Process as a resource person in different webinars/workshops organized by different universities.
