Md Liton Hossain, completed his PhD degree from Curtin University, Australia in 2020. His PhD research project title is “Control of a Multilevel Inverter for Wind Energy Conversion System with Energy Storage and Condition Monitoring Options” which is fully funded by Curtin International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (CIPRS), Curtin Strategic International Research Scholarship (CSIRS) and Curtin HDR completion scholarship (AUD 159,800). The wind energy conversion system includes wind turbine, generator, full-scale power electronic converter specially a novel multilevel inverter, and novel space vector controller which has been designed and simulated. The novel multilevel inverter and controller have showed significant performances for controlling and monitoring the wind energy conversion system. A hardware prototype of novel multilevel inverter and controller have been developed and tested in our laboratory which requires advanced semiconductor devices (SKM50GB12T4) of renowned multinational electronics company (SEMIKRON), digital signal processing board (TMS320F28335) of TEXAS INSTRUMENT, MATLAB/SIMULINK advanced modelling integrated with TMS320F28335 through CODE COMPOSER STUDIO (for converting the model to C code), advanced driver circuitries. The multilevel inverter and controller are very important asset to integrate renewable energy to the smart grid. Hence, the wind energy conversion system showed significant performances which demands to be as potential assent in the field of energy and mining technology. In addition, an industrial internet of things has been developed by applying ARDUINO IDE, ARDUINO UNO board, SIM800L chipset, and a dedicated internet based server to monitor the condition of wind energy conversion system remotely over internet which is a promising technology for the integration of energy sector to the IT sector.

I have been working with Md Ohirul Qays of University Sarawak Malaysia for a collaborative project titled ‘A battery management system based on SOC estimation using artificial network technique for PV-battery integration system’. Battery undergoes frequent charging and discharging cycles in a photovoltaic (PV)-battery integrated system that decreases its functioning life and affects its performance significantly. To fix the delinquencies, this project talks about the State of Charge (SOC) estimation for Battery Management System (BMS) where SOC is assessed using Backpropagation Neural Network (BPNN) technique by collecting the battery parameters such as voltage, current and temperature. Active cell balancing control strategy is employed in the proposed method headed for reducing the SOC divergence among the cells and improve the battery lifetime.
I have a good track record of publishing research articles in highly recognized journals amd conferences which are CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems (SCI Indexed, IF: 2.68), Energies (Q1, SCIE Indexed, IF: 2.707), Electric Power Components and System (Q2, SCIE Indexed, IF: 0.888), International Journal of Power Electronics and Drive System (SCOPUS Indexed, Q2), ELEKTRIKA-UTM Journal of Electrical Engineering, Condition Monitoring and Diagnosis, 3rd IET International Conference on Clean Energy and Technology, IEEE Conference on Energy Conversion, 2nd Power and Energy Conversion Symposium, 2nd International Conference on Informatics, Electronics & Vision.
